Medical City Frisco’s new patient tower is expected to be completed by December 2022.
The two-story hospital tower will primarily house spine and orthopedic patients, as well as surgical and intensive care. The building’s foundation allows for eight-story growth in the future, CEO Patrick Rohan said in an email.
Construction of the tower began in February. The design includes a new entrance from Main Street and an additional helicopter runway for transfers, officials said.
The $ 91 million project was approved in 2019 and includes 300 additional parking spaces, 36 additional patient beds and 118,481 square feet of space, according to project details.
Other features of the project include a “healing environment” with natural light and comfortable furnishings.
The Patient Tower is part of Medical City Healthcare’s investment initiative of more than $ 1.1 billion to spend or commit over five years across the healthcare system, officials said.
Investments include the expansion and improvement of existing hospitals, new trauma services, oncology, behavioral health care, improved technology, as well as the purchase and construction of new facilities for patients and patients. staff.
“We are proud to be a part of and continue to invest in the Frisco community, which continues to grow at a phenomenal rate,” Rohan said in a March press release. “Anticipating the future needs of the community helps keep our neighbors healthy and advances our mission of caring for and improving human life. ”
