DCH regional doctor tries to strike a chord with the community in PSA

TUSSCALOOSA, Alabama (WBRC) – A doctor who works at DCH Regional Medical Center, worried about low vaccination rates among his colleagues and people in his community, used his voice as an epidemiologist and infectious disease expert to urge people to get vaccinated by save two public service announcements.

“It hurts my heart to know that Alabama is like the bottom of the vaccine ladder,” said Dr. Albert White.

You can almost hear the pain in Dr. Albert White’s voice in the PSA, as he asks people to get their COVID-19 shots.

“Me being a doctor, me being responsible for infectious diseases, I felt that people would listen to what I say and trust what I say because I have been here for a long time. I have had the opportunity to treat a lot of people in the community, ”he said.

White recorded the first public service announcement for DCH staff. The hospital has not required employees to be vaccinated, but they are encouraged to do so.

“Please, please, please get us vaccinated,” White pleaded with his colleagues.

Dr. White recorded the second public service announcement for the public.

“I have been vaccinated. I recommend vaccinations to my patients. I recommend vaccinations for my family. I recommend vaccinations for my friends and I recommend vaccinations for my colleagues, ”he told listeners.

White says he has heard from people who have been vaccinated or are now considering getting vaccinated after seeing the PSAs. Both are available on YouTube from DCH page.
